You will need to submit certain documents such as age and address proof of both the persons intending to marry, along with 2 passport size photographs of both. Also, you must submit the date of the proposed marriage. The notice of intended marriage must be given at least 30 days before the proposed marriage date.

Further steps of the Intended Marriage Registration Process

The magistrate will verify all the documents and if the documents are in order, the magistrate will publish the intended marriage notice on the Registrar’s notice board to invite objections. If no objections are raised within the 30 day time, the matter will be investigated by the registrar. In case no objections are raised, the marriage registration process moves to the next stage, where the bride and the groom need to be physically present at the marriage registrar’s office along with the witnesses to sign the marriage registration form. The witnesses should also carry adequate age and address proof in original and photographs.
